How do I find out if a vehicle tracking device has been placed on my car?

Can you answer slovak’s question about GPS?:
Where are the places where a vehicle tracking device (homing device, GPRS, etc.), can be placed on a car? How long does it take to stick such a device on the car? What is the battery life? Does it take power from the car battery? If so, how?

GPS Feedback: Little paranoid are we?
Oh…and if for some reason there is one….you can disable it by tazing your car. You know…one of those electric shock tazers for personal protection. Charge it up put it on your car and let it rip….btw it may fry some of your car electronics too.
Sleep well
GPS Feedback: You are paranoid. Seek professional help.
GPS Feedback: If you are not James Bond dont worry this message will self destruct!
GPS Feedback: I would worry more about misterious “ticking” noises.
GPS Feedback: There are only two types of people that would want this type of info, the paranoid and the thief.
But just for argument sake really anything that gives off a distinct signal can be tracked with the right equipment. When I was younger we use to play a game with CB, someone would take off get to a location and start transmitting a signal. the rest of us would start to look for this person based on signal strength. It would take us between 10 and 40 minutes to find the person and this was just with your standard CB that you can buy at Wal-mart. If it’s just transmitting a signal then it can be anywhere in the vehicle. A GPS type would have to have a visible sky to get a signal from the satellites.
If your worried about someone bugging your car look for anything out of the ordinary. If your looking to defeat a low-jack type system forget it. Those guys deliberately hide the system so that you won’t be able find it and they won’t give out details about there system.
GPS Feedback: There are only three reasons you would be worried about a tracking device in “your” vehicle. You are either worried about being caught in a stolen vehicle, or are behind on your payments and are hiding the car from the repo man. If neither of those are the case, you might want to talk to a professional about your paranoia!
One reason he might want to know is because he is driving a work vehicle and may be altering his actual working times from the times he is putting on his time sheet. Just a thought though a lot of work vehicles have installed gps for this reason so people will not take advantage of the free gas or time. The ones I have run into even can tell if the vehicle key is in the on position as if someone were sitting in the car listening to the radio instead of working. Just a thought though.
I have heard u can tell by the fuse box there are some kind of wires there. And pull the glove box all the way out and search around there the device is about the size of an alarm box or interlock device good luck either way.
actually, wanting to know if your being stalked is another good reason. ex husbands. ex boyfriends. busy bodies. control freaks of all kinds use these devices.
