GPS tracking is critical to the military as it can identify the type of vehicles used by the enemy and get their exact location within seconds. With this level of timely and detailed information, the chances of completing an operation successfully are very high.
GPS tracking systems are very beneficial to police officers, too. One of the reasons is because police officers can use GPS tracking to keep tab of suspects and fugitives. They can keep track of the location of the vehicle they are pursuing without being discovered by the suspects. Also, with GPS vehicle tracking, police officers can get to the perpetrator’s location without engaging in a dangerous high-speed pursuit through crowded neighborhoods and along busy highways. A GPS tracking device is a great tool for police enforcement in the event of lost or missing vehicles and their potentially expensive cargo.
GPS based vehicle tracking is also useful for ordinary folks like you and I. It can be used for personal and commercial use. In our high-tech world, this system has become one of the best inventions that assist us with our daily tasks. Almost all drivers are grateful for their GPS vehicle tracking systems. With the GPS tracking system, fleet owners and managers are now able to track their vehicles effectively. This is the main idea and rationale behind the GPS vehicle tracking system. When fleet owners and managers need to locate their employees and vehicles urgently, they can rely on the GPS tracking system to get the job done.
GPS Vehicle Tracking Has Additional Purposes
Many people who use a GPS system as a form of anti-theft device. Should there be any unauthorized movement of the vehicle, some of these devices may have the capability to disable the vehicle’s engine. With a GPS system installed in the vehicle, car owners can have piece of mind.
There are people who use GPS tracking to keep track of some important people in their lives or of their vehicles when they are not in town. Usually, parents will use GPS tracking to keep tab of their teenage kids should they attempt to drive the family car. Although it may seem like prying, in some cases, the caution is warranted.
GPS vehicle tracking technology offers all owners of vehicles peace of mind. Although this comes at a cost, in most cases the vehicles or the cargo they carry or the people they transport are worth every single cent paid for this technology.
A Variety Of GPS Tracking Systems For Different Needs
There are many different kinds of GPS vehicle tracking systems. Some are more suited for personal use; others for business users. Some examples of GPS vehicle tracking system are:
1) Wireless GPS tracking system
This system allows you to get quick and simple access to all the crucial information that you need. The footprint for this system can be extensive. The GPS tracking software delivers thorough fleet tracking and data reporting automatically.
2) Entry-level GPS tracking unit
The difference between a wireless GPS tracking system and an entry-level GPS tracking unit is that it is customized for fleets that have basic vehicle tracking needs, like vehicle location, speed, stops and route.
3) Advanced GPS tracking system
This system is equipped with “real time” tracking which is meant for larger company fleets which delivers detailed historical information.
Buying A GPS Vehicle Tracking System
It is not too difficult to find a retailer that provides GPS tracking systems and related services. Some retailers are better than others. The better ones have experts who actually use the products they sell and give expert advice regarding the features and functions of the devices that they sell. Others will have also quality customer services to handle any user queries regarding the products that they have purchased. Advanced Tracking Technologies, Inc. (ATTI) is one of the most popular places to such systems since they stock a wide range of different kinds of GPS vehicle tracking systems at reasonable prices. Moreover, they provide useful information on their different products and the most suitable ways to use them.
Some of the advantages experienced by companies with mobile fleets who use ATTI’s GPS tracking system product line include:

The Global Positioning System or GPS is currently the only fully functional Global Navigation Satellite System. Utilizing a group of at least 24 medium Earth course satellites that sends out precise radio signals, the method enables a GPS receiver to determine its location, speed, and direction. GPS is free for casual use for the good of the public, and these days one can find GPS incorporated in watches, cars, digital maps, etc.
People frequently wonder how much GPS practicality can be crammed into a wristwatch. Will it be possible to download maps and watch the progress?
GPS technology is a wonderful feat of human advancement, which is readily available in your local electronic stores. This allows anyone to determine his or her exact time and location in seconds. Get this information continually by buying a GPS watch.
GPS has developed into a broadly used aid in direction finding worldwide, and a helpful tool for map-making, land surveying, commerce, and scientific uses. GPS also provides a specific time location used in many applications as well as scientific study of earthquakes, and synchronization of telecommunications networks. It may be remarkable to note that the cost of maintaining the GPS system is approximately US$750 million per year, including the replacement of aging satellites, and for research and development. The satellite assemblage is managed by the United States Air Force 50th Space Wing.
Purchasing the best GPS watch for you would be easy by following these 5 simple steps:

GPS Tracking Devices - Teens Vs Parents, Law Enforcement Vs Invasion Of Privacy

Fleet Vehicles and GPS Tracking Devices
You’ll find that there are many companies both large and small that use global positioning tracking devices to follow the location of their vehicles. The majority of trucking companies have the capability to tell you where all of their vehicles are at any given point in time. In a similar manner, taxi companies as well as repair companies have the capability to monitor their trucks location so that they can dispatch them in a more efficient manner.
However, there are people that believe this gives the companies who choose to use GPS tracking devices more information than is needed about their drivers. For instance, trucking companies have the capability to know how much time a trucker has spent on the road, when and for what period of time he stops for sleep or meals and if he has taken any unscheduled side trips.
Dispatchers at these companies may be privy to personal information that is none of their business, such as a driver having lunch each day at the same place, and it is not his residence. Some individuals are of the opinion that this constitutes an invasion of personal privacy.
Teens and GPS Tracking Devices
There are some parents who use global positioning tracking devices to know the location of their teens. They may download global positioning system tracking software technology to the mobile phones of their teens, or they may place a global positioning system tracking device somewhere in their car. The teenagers may or may not be aware that their parents are monitoring them.
There is likely quite a few teens who believe that this is and invasion of their privacy.
GPS Tracking Devices and Surveillance
Does the thought run through your mind if your spouse having an affair? Curious to find out what your brother-in-law is up to? If you place a hidden GPS tracking device on their vehicle, you will at least know where they are going in their car. You may have to come to your own conclusions as to what they are actually doing there.
There are many people who would agree that this would be an invasion of privacy and quite a few would be offended if they either knew or suspected you were tracking them. Things get a little more involved when police use GPS tracking devices.
Global positioning tracking devices have been used by police to successfully solve crimes. An example of the conflict between serving justice and invasion of privacy; say the police put a GPS tracking device on the car of a person they suspect of being a murderer. They successfully track the the murderer as he unknowingly leads them to the victims grave. Is this an invasion of privacy? Should law enforcement officials be allowed to use global positioning tracking devices this way?
If, for instance, the police need to obtain a search warrant from a judge to use a GPS tracking device, should a private citizen be able to use this technology without a warrant? Should the average private citizen even be allowed to use global positioning tracking device technology at all? At times the right to privacy and the right to information are in conflict, this is one of those time.
All technology has moral and ethical implications that we as individuals and society as a whole has to grapple with. The right to privacy is the ethical dilemma we are forced to deal with when we use GPS tracking device technology.
