How accurate is GPS?

Answered By Editor

GPS is the most accurate positioning system we have today. It can locate a person in very exact latitudinal and longitudinal degrees. Plus it can even determine the exact altitude of a certain device. Innovation never stops for the GPS.

Today, there are many systems that are being augmented to the GPS so it will be more accurate. However, not all GPS devices are created equal. For average GPS units, it is not uncommon to be off by 20-50 feet, while other GPS units are quite accurate. Also, if in the case that SA will be turned on again in the case of war of crisis, it will result in lesser accuracy.
